Juwan Linkston

Juwan is a native of Round Rock, Texas and began dancing at the age of 15 at Cedar Ridge High School. He was awarded the Senior Hip-Hop Scholarship at the Texas Association of Teachers Dancing Inc. convention in June 2012. He began seriously studying ballet at Dancers Workshop in Austin, TX.

In 2013, he attended American Ballet Theatre’s Summer Intensive on scholarship. Alston attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2014, where he performed in ballets by Sir Frederick Ashton, George Balanchine, Susan Jaffe, and Ethan Stiefel.

Juwan has served as a Professional Mentor for Texas Future Dance Educators, Guest Faculty for the UNC School of the Arts Preparatory Dance Program, and as a freelance master teacher. Since joining Charlotte Ballet in 2015, he has performed in ballets by Ohad Naharin, Dwight Rhoden, Alonzo King, Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux, Sasha Janes, David Ingram, and Mark Diamond.

During the 6 years Juwan spent dancing professionally, he was able to really challenge how far he can pursue growth opportunities. Whether that was exploring project management through choreographic ventures, or better understanding business administration through integrating himself into every department within the organization. Through this, Juwan was able to uncover two passions. They are financial literacy among artists and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

These passions led him to pursue his Bachelor in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where he will graduate in May of 2022. While a student there, he became involved with Alpha Chi National Honor Society as well as La Voz de Español. These two student organizations really reflect his pursuit of academic excellence, and his love for understanding other people and cultures. He also regularly attended various events to further his knowledge and awareness of current events impacting financial services and the economy as a whole. Upon graduation he looks forward to continuing his journey to become a financial planner and just see where the world takes him.
