AVERY WATKINS

Avery Watkins is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Psychology in May 2025. Originally from Davidson, NC, she trained for 15 years at ADFA under the direction of Melissa Jackson, Sadie Roberts-Doughten, and other renowned faculty, building a strong technical and artistic foundation. While pursuing her degree, Avery studied under esteemed faculty members including Qianping Guo, Cornelius Carter, JaMorris Rivers, Mary Roberts, Lawrence Jackson, and Lindsay Benton.


Avery furthered her training by attending the NYCDA Summer Dance Intensive and the Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive, where she studied with industry professionals and expanded her versatility across multiple dance styles.


At the University of Alabama, Avery was an active member of Dance Alabama!, a fully student-run organization that highlights original student choreography. She performed in over 20 works and choreographed 5 original pieces for both the fall and spring concerts, as well as the spring exhibition. She was also selected to join Mpowr, a commercial dance company founded by a graduate student, gaining valuable experience in the commercial/contemporary dance space.


Avery continues to share her passion for dance through teaching, performance, and choreography, with a focus on artistic expression, technical excellence, and storytelling through movement.
